Greenburgh Hebrew Center to Sponsor Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah Class - Informational Meeting September 17 at 10am

Perhaps you never had the opportunity to have a Bat or Bar Mitzvah. Maybe you did but want to do it again at a time when you will appreciate your connection to Judaism in a different way. Greenburgh Hebrew Center will be sponsoring an adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah class taught by Rabbi Jay Stein and Cantor Janet Leuchter. This course is designed for adult learners of any age who want to have this experience. Even if you never learned Hebrew, you can still take this class. Tutors will be available to teach Hebrew. Class begins October 22, 2017 at 10 am and they will meet the 2nd Sunday of each month. Your Jewish studies lead to a Bat/Bar Mitzvah in spring, 2018. An informational meeting will be held at the synagogue on Sunday, September 17 at 10am.

What Does Jewish Look Like to You?, a monologue showcase to be held at GHC on Sunday April 23

KALEIDOSCOPE - What Does Jewish Look Like to You? will be presented live at at 4:00 pm on Sunday April 23 at Greenburgh Hebrew Center in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Kaleidoscope is a narrative-arts driven initiative that was sparked by a desire to highlight the stories of Jews of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, observance levels, and interfaith experiences. This monologue showcase featuring personal stories from 6 Jews of diverse and ethnic backgrounds, followed by a Q&A with the performers.

Greenburgh Hebrew Center to hold Shabbat Hagadol Dinner Friday April 7, 2017

Now that Purim is over, the Greenburgh Hebrew Center is preparing for Passover. This year’s annual Shabbat Hagadol dinner takes place on Friday, April 7. Shabbat Hagadol is the “Great Shabbat” before Passover!

Scholars in Residence at Greenburgh Hebrew Center, March 17 19, 2017

Greenburgh Hebrew Center proudly announces their Scholar-in-Residence Weekend, taking place March 17 - 19 with two prominent scholars. Dr. David Stern of Harvard and his wife, Dr. Kathryn Hellerstein of the University of Pennsylvania are experts in their fields: he in classical and modern Jewish and Hebrew literature and she in Yiddish poetry, especially women's Yiddish poetry.

GHC proudly continues its partnership with White Plains Hospital, a leader in exceptional medical care. The White Plains Hospital Blood Bank is coordinating the blood drive and is available at 914-681-1056 to answer any questions.

New HVAC unit installed at GHC

While we prepare for the holidays so does the GHC building. With a expenditure of $39,500, we replaced the non-working Social Hall HVAC unit with a new high efficient unit to provide us with many years of cost effective comfort.

The Greenburgh Hebrew Center offers Free Jewish Education for Kindergarten and First Grade

The Greenburgh Hebrew Center extends its commitment to Jewish education by offering enrollment in its Kindergarten and first grade classes for free, and membership in the synagogue is not required.  This tuition benefit is available to all students enrolling in the Kindergarten and First Grade (Gan and Aleph) classes.
