All Woman Sisterhood Shabbat Service, honoring Sherry Padva as Woman of the Year, to be held in Dobbs Ferry on Saturday May 4

Sisterhood GHC will be having its annual Sisterhood Shabbat, honoring Sherry Padva as Woman of the Year, at 9:30 am on Saturday May 4 at Greenburgh Hebrew Center in Dobbs Ferry, NY. GHC is an egalitarian synagogue where women are routinely included in all aspects of Jewish observance, but, Sisterhood Shabbat is a special celebration of how far Jewish women have come. All the parts of the service, including leading the service and reading Torah, are performed by women.

Sherry Padva has been chosen Woman of the Year for her extensive service to GHC and to Sisterhood. She and her family, became members of the Greenburgh Hebrew Center in 1986. Sherry’s involvement started with the Nursery School PTA. But, her resume quickly started to grow….Religious School PTA, Jr Congregation Committee, Shalot Manot, Board of Trustees, VP Membership, Executive Secretary, Executive VP, Sisterhood Treasurer, VP of Programming, Sisterhood President, In-house Catering, Gift Shop. Of all her accomplishments (besides her family) Sherry is most proud of being able to serve as Sisterhood President. When she is not at GHC Sherry is an accomplished professional in the field of Sales Promotion and Incentive Merchandising.

Sisterhood GHC, provides support to the entire Greenburgh Hebrew Center family and other worthy causes. With approximately 180 members, Sisterhood presents Brunches, Mah Jongg games and other activities, with a special emphasis on the Women of GHC. It is a participating member of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. The Greenburgh Hebrew Center is a Conservative egalitarian congregation with over 300 member families, serving the Rivertowns, Scarsdale, Hartsdale, White Plains, New Rochelle and Yonkers. It is located at 515 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry.
