GreenFaith and the Greenburgh Hebrew Center will partner a special program for the faith communities of the Hudson Rivertowns communities and environs Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. at the Greenburgh Hebrew Center, 515 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522 and will conduct an afternoon program on the religious basis for environmental action. We invite and encourage both clergy, parishioners, and congregants to attend.

The program - Putting Sustainability into Action in Religious Facilities – will:

  • provide an introduction to sacred texts and theologies that relate to environmental sustainability.
  • present effective strategies and resources to help houses of worship ‘green’ their facilities

Teaching methods will include the study and discussion of sacred texts, viewing video clips showing religious leaders providing environmental leadership, “walk-throughs” of religious facilities to identify ‘greening’ opportunities, and group discussion.   Ample time for discussion and interaction will make the event engaging and meaningful for participants.
