CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR OF THE TREES AT GREENBURGH HEBREW CENTER
GHC Tu B'Shevat Seders
Friday, January 29, 2010
Services at 6:30 pm, followed by Seder/Dinner at 7:30 pm
On Friday, January 29, Greenburgh Hebrew Center will be celebrating Tu B'Shevat, otherwise known as the New Year of the Trees, with 2 Seders!
The evening begins at 5:30 pm with a program for families with young children led by Cantor Kanarek and Rabbi Kenter. A mini-seder and dinner for young families follows at 5:45 pm. Services for the entire congregation are at 6:30 pm led by our Cantor and Rabbi, followed by a seder and dinner at 7:30 pm.
We invite everyone to join our annual celebration of "Jewish Arbor Day", better known as Tu B'Shevat. Our seders and dinners will include 4 cups of wine/grape juice (representing the changes in the seasons) and ceremonial fruits mentioned in the Bible (grapes, olives, dates, figs and pomegranates). Singing and appropriate readings will enhance our celebration.
Please RSVP to the synagogue office at 914-693-4260 and check the website www.g-h-c.org for additional information about the Tu B'shevat seders.
The Greenburgh Hebrew Center is a conservative synagogue and has daily services that are spirited, egalitarian and participatory. The membership is a friendly and welcoming community. Please call the synagogue office at 914-693-4260, for more information.
