Sylvia will discuss the unexpected kinship borne of shared values and traditions interpreted in a contemporary context, tracing the journey of a 19th-century, Eastern European Torah scroll and how it came to hold new significance for a 21st-century, progressive Jewish community in LA.

Greenburgh Hebrew Center presents four truly fascinating and accomplished women who will talk about their experiences cracking the glass ceiling. This panel takes place on Monday, April 23 at 7:30 pm at GHC and features: Lenore Katkin, physician, in practice for 60 years; Roberta Karmel, attorney and professor of law; Cecile Singer, a former member of the NY State Assembly; and Bernice Gottleib, humanitarian advocate and author.
