Rivertown Shul Stitchers is a group of knitters and crocheters who meet monthly. It is part of an Engage in Knitting initiative supported by UJA-Federation’s Engage Jewish Service Corps of Westchester.

We donate adult, baby, and lap blankets, adult and baby hats, and scarves to various organizations such as the Jewish Board’s Mann Center in Hawthorne/Cedar Knolls, domestic shelters and hospitals in Israel and locally, and to community centers.Yarn is provided, but Knitters and Crocheters are asked to bring their own needles and hooks.  You can follow your own pattern or use the ones distributed at our monthly meetings or in this packet (which includes websites for various knitting and crocheting patterns).

If you wish you have your own packet, we will email you a PDF. In addition to websites for patterns, the packet provides information regarding yarn weight and corresponding needle and hook sizes, a chart showing approximate number of rectangles needed to make a blanket, a sizing chart for hats. Finishing information is provided for those who volunteer to stitch rectangles into beautiful blankets. If you cannot make it to the monthly meetings, we welcome you to knit at home and drop off your item at the office.
