Religious Affairs

Greenburgh Hebrew Center offers religious services 365 days per year. We join in prayer as a community, with singing and active discussion. Our learned, dynamic and compassionate clergy (Rabbi Barry Kenter) lead many of our services, but a hallmark of GHC is our congregants' participation in all aspects of religious services. Dozens of congregants each year read from the Torah, chant Haftarah and lead portions of our Shabbat, Festival and Daily services. We are particularly proud of the many teens who remain active Torah readers and service participants after becoming a bar or bat mitzvah. Most of our adult participants learned their skills at GHC as adults -- "beginners" are always welcome and soon become "regulars." We follow the liturgy of the Conservative Movement, and our services are fully egalitarian.
