Religious School Director - Irit Kornblit

Irit KornblitIrit Kornblit, the new Educational Director of our religious School at Greenburgh Hebrew Center has been a Jewish educator for most of her life, getting started in her teens, as a youth leader in her local youth movement. Upon arriving in New York, Irit taught Hebrew language and Torah at Solomon Schechter School of Westchester for 17 years. While there, she earned the love and admiration of students and parents alike, as a result of her reputation as an effective, fun and motivating teacher.

For the past five years Irit has taught both Hebrew language and Judaic Studies at WFHA day school in Greenwich, Connecticut. As chair of the WFHA's Hebrew Language Department, Irit has had the opportunity to share her passion, vision, and knowledge throughout the school.

One of her greatest prior accomplishments was creating and running a local satellite of the acclaimed JTS backed PROZDOR after-school program for public high school students. This unique program was a huge success in Westchester county and she was thrilled to be a central part of it.

Irit is an amicable, open-minded, passionate Jewish educator, whose skill and creativity inspire students to strive to be their best. The commitment and enthusiasm Irit brings to her work is refreshing. Students and staff members alike delight in her vigor and dynamism.

Irit continually seeks to raise the creative bar, fostering joy and self-confidence in her students. She masterfully weaves together Israeli culture, Hebrew language, and Jewish heritage throughout all of her work. Her facility to transmit core values and ideas through age appropriate discussions and activities is unrivaled.

When not teaching, Irit spends time making ceramics and pottery at her in-house studio, gardens, travels, and takes advantage of the great outdoors with her husband Danny and two children, Adva and Tom.
