Jewish Education Fund

Did you know that GHC has a fund set up to provide stipends to parents whose children attend the following summer programs?

Ramah Day Camp (Nyack) USY Pilgrimage and Summer Abroad Programs
Ramah Sleep-Away Camps USY Encampment
USY on Wheels Etgar

These are fabulous and well-run programs; ask any child who has attended these! The Ramah Camps and USY
summer programs are a valuable, enriching experience for our youth.
The Jewish Education Fund (JEF), through the generous contributions of the members of GHC, strives to help
children of our community to enrich their lives, continue to learn and prepare themselves for a future full Jewish
life. The JEF supports and encourages the education of our young people beyond the scope of our religious school
programs. Based on appropriate recommendations and criteria, JEF provides stipends to defray parent costs of the
activities listed above. If your child attended any of these programs this summer, please contact the new JEF
Committee Chairpeople, Robin Rosenberg and Bruce Segall at 693-6109 or rrosenber3@optonline.net to receive an
application.

The JEF also administers the Harry and Anna Singer Scholarship Fund for study in Israel. Please contact Rabbi
Kenter or Robin or Bruce about this.

The funds available to the JEF come from the generous contributions of our congregants. Please remember JEF
when considering making a contribution in memory of a loved one or to honor a family simcha. On November 1st,
we are honoring a very special family, the Lazars, for all of their many contributions to the Youth of GHC. We
hope you will all come to the breakfast at 10 am to help us honor Eliot, Becky, Jenna, Andy and Chad Lazar.

And finally, we would like to thank the prior JEF Chairpeople, Iris Schwartz and Becky Lazar, for their
commitment to the JEF and for all of their hard work.
