The congregational dinner that took place on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2011, was a huge success, with over 130 people attending.  The dinner was the kickoff event for a six month long social action project aimed at helping veterans and active duty soldiers.  Thanks are due to so many who made the dinner a wonderful evening.  Judy Goldstein, with her beautiful voice and great spirit, quickly stepped in to lead services when the Cantor became ill.  Robin Rosenberg did her usual masterful job of organizing the dinner logistics.  And, when Robin could not make the dinner, Sheila Greenwald took over and successfully managed the entire kitchen crew.  Thanks to Hal Greenwald, Mike Goldman, Herb and Robbie Goldberg, and Naomi and Michael Feinkind for being the kitchen crew and making the huge job look easy.  Thanks to the Rabbi for his meaningful remarks and to Lisa Feinman of the JCC on the Hudson for introducing the veterans.  Michael Abelson also stepped in for the Cantor and did a beautiful job in leading the group in singing patriotic songs.  Thanks to everyone else who helped in a variety of ways to make this event such a success.  We hope that everyone will participate in some way in the upcoming events for veterans and soldiers.  We will keep you posted via Hamvaser and the GHC weekly email reports.
